ELITE JUNIOR: Quintin Hampton

Quintin Hampton has helped Colquitt County reach the playoffs and achieve its fifth winning season in a row. Hampton’s play on the defensive line has been great for his defensive coordinator and terrible for opposing offenses. Hampton made the transition from linebacker to defensive end this season, and he has excelled at the position better than anyone could’ve expected. In fact, he has sole possession of Colquitt County’s sack record with 19.5 this season. He broke the record of 16.5 set by Jack McNeal in 1995.

Hampton also had more than 30 tackles for a loss and has made it a habit of spending most of the game in the backfield as he also has 41 quarterback hurries. Hampton has more than 120 tackles this season.

His numbers are unreal and seeing him in person is just as impressive. Schools like Vanderbilt, Missouri, Stanford and South Carolina have been recruiting Hampton hoping to land the next big thing at defensive end. Florida State and Auburn also had Hampton come to their schools for unofficial visits where he saw the field, locker rooms and got to speak with some of the players.

Hampton also boasts a very impressive 3.7 GPA, is an active member in his school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes and its Future Business Leaders of America, and he was just asked to join the Student Government Association at Colquitt County by his teacher for his great leadership and work ethic in school.

Hampton somehow also finds time to help coach recreation league football teams.

“Usually I just work with a lot of younger kids who like football and want to get better, trying to help them work on stuff to improve,” he said.

If anyone knows how to excel at football and the amount of work and dedication the sport requires, it’s Hampton.
