Evans 4-star Offensive lineman Mason Short commits to UGA

Evans’ 4-star offensive lineman Mason Short has committed to play for Kirby Smart and the hometown Georgia Bulldogs.

Short is the 8th ranked interior offensive lineman in the country and the 178th ranked overall player. He commits to the Bulldogs after decommitting from Alabama in January following the retirement of legendary head coach Nick Saban.

In reference to what made UGA stand out, Short had this to say to 247Sports.

“That constant pursuit, knowing I’ve always been at the top of their board and there’s never been any kind of let-off or anything. Just the way I got to see how he got to see his players, how his players respect them — Coach [Stacy] Searels and Coach Kirby [Smart].”

Short is the sixth recruit to join Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class, which is currently ranked 15th in the country. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound lineman joins a Georgia program that has produced NFL offensive linemen at as high a level as any program in the country, producing nine linemen that have been drafted in the NFL in the last five years with two more expected to be drafted in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.

Short chose UGA over 14 other offers from schools like Alabama, Clemson, and Florida State. He is coming off a junior season where he was selected to the AJC First Team All-State team. At 6-6, he has the length to be an elite offensive lineman while already being physically developed, with the ability to put on more good weight on his massive frame.
