In Class 7A, pre-playoff No. 1 ranked Wheeler secured its ninth all-time state championship and third in the past four years with a 78-58 win over Region 5 opponent Cherokee. The Warriors close out the year at No. 2 after their historic run to the finals and finish 25-7 overall with four of those losses coming to the Wildcats. Buford entered the playoffs at No. 6, but did not finish in the top 10 and instead Walton closes out the year at No. 10 after a run to the quarterfinals.

Alexander successfully captured its first-ever state title in a 64-42 win over Lee County in the Class 6A championship and closes the season at No. 1. Hughes did not make the top 10 after entering the playoffs at No. 8 and Blessed Trinity replaced the Panthers after making a run to the quarterfinals and falling to state runner-up Lee County 65-60 to close out a 24-7 campaign.

In Class 5A, pre-playoff No. 1 Kell defeated No. 2 Eagle’s Landing in a 61-53 thriller to win its first-ever state title. Jones County reached the semifinals as the No. 4 seed out of Region 2 and joins Eagle’s Landing, Dutchtown and Union Grove as the Region 2 teams that made the final poll. Pace Academy entered the playoffs at No. 2 in Class 4A and secured the top spot after an impressive playoff run and state championship win over No. 2 Fayette County. Westover earned No. 3 and pre-playoff No. 1 McDonough finishes No. 4 after falling to Westover 66-57 in the quarterfinals.
