Football team absorbs tough loss to Dacula; volleyball to compete in Providence/Gwinnett County Championships

The football team lost its third game of the 2008 campaign on Friday, falling to the Dacula Falcons 47-24. The game was the region opener for both teams. Central Gwinnett will try to get the job done this Friday against the 1-3 South Gwinnett Comets. Ed Stokes’s team will have to be prepared for the Comets, who scored a season-high 52 points just two weeks ago against Meadowcreek. … The softball team won games against Shiloh and Ola last week prior to participating in the Brookwood Invitational Tournament held last Saturday. The Lady Knights didn’t enjoy the same success in the tourney, however, dropping games to North Gwinnett 6-0, Carroll Co. Central 5-2, and Collins Hill 6-2.  The team has two more games prior to the Region 8-AAAAA Tournament, which begins on Oct. 2, a home game against Parkview and a road game against St. Pius X to close out the regular season on Sept. 30. … The volleyball team lost two Thursday matchups last week, first to Collins Hill and then against Alpharetta. The team will compete in the Providence-Gwinnett County Championships this coming Thursday.
