Wesleyan 31, Hapeville Charter 14

How the game was won: Wesleyan trailed 7-0 after the first quarter and 14-7 during the second, but the visiting Wolves tied up the score by halftime and completely dominated the second half to overcome Hapeville Charter. An even first half saw Wesleyan churn out 165 total yards of offense to the Hornets’ 155, but the second half was all Wolves.

Top performers: Wesleyan quarterback Blake Ramsey accounted for all four of his team’s touchdowns. He scored twice on the ground in the first half before tossing two second-half scoring strikes, one on a screen pass to Grant Summers and another from eight yards away to Harrison Cook. Mateo Rengifo capped off the scoring for the Wolves with a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. William Poole III set up Hapeville Charter’s first touchdown with an interception return to the Wesleyan 12-yard line.

Forsyth Central 63, Meadowcreek 28 

How the game was won: Forsyth Central led 56-14 at halftime and got three touchdowns from running back Sabrian Howard.

Top performers: Howard rushed 12 times for 208 yards and three scores, including a 73-yard run in the first quarter for host Forsyth Central. Quarterback Brad Thiltgen was 10-of-14 passing for 84 yards and a touchdown. Meadowcreek running back Chauncey Williams had 189 yards rushing and a score.

Northside-Warner Robins 38, Lanier 7

How the game was won: Northside-Warner Robins outgained Lanier 235-to-82 in total yardage in the first half and jumped to a 31-7 lead. After a scoreless third quarter, Eagles quarterback Tobias Oliver tossed a 9-yard touchdown pass to Jaylan Sandifer with 3:24 left for the game’s final score.

Top Performers: Northside’s Tobias Oliver rushed for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns off 18 carries and completed 16-of-21 pass attempts for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Northside’s Amand Childs and Isiah Nelson each intercepted passes.  Desean Dinkins rushed for a game-high 74 yards off 18 carries and scored a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Treyvon Williams caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Oliver with :40 left in the first half.

Newton 34, Peachtree Ridge 32

How the game was won: Newton got off to a slow start but ended up winning a back-and-forth thriller over visiting Peachtree Ridge. Although the Rams trailed 11-0 midway through the first quarter, they recovered for a 14-11 advantage heading into the second. Two lead changes resulted in a 25-21 halftime score in Peachtree Ridge’s favor, but the Lions managed only one touchdown in the second half. A Myron Middlebrooks scoring strike to David Butso with 1:05 remaining in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner for Peachtree Ridge.

Top performers: Middlebrooks put Peachtree Ridge on the scoreboard with a two-yard run that was set up by a 65-yard jaunt courtesy of J.J. Holloman. In addition to his winning pass to Butso, Middlebrooks threw one touchdown to Holloman and hooked up with Tyrese Peacock for an 86-yard score. In an otherwise offensive showdown, the Lions got an interception return for a touchdown by Robert Blake that gave them a 14-11 lead in the second quarter.
