Lions defeat Titans behind Wolfe and Carkuff

The football team defeated Towers last Friday night by a score of 53-14. With the win, Lovett evens its season record to 2-2 heading into the final six games of the season. Against the Titans, Lovett broke out to a 46-8 lead by halftime and was led by Jonathan Carkuff’s three touchdown passes and Zach Wolfe’s three scores. The Lions used a balanced offensive effort to steamroll Towers, as they threw for 172 yards and rushed for 190 yards. The defense did its part as well, causing five turnovers. For the season, Carkuff has now thrown for 690 yards and six touchdowns. … The softball team is now 11-6 on the year after going 1-2 in the past week. The Lady Lions suffered a tough 3-2 loss to No. 8 Union County (ranking is according to GaSports.com’s Week 5 rankings) on Monday at the North Georgia Tournament, but rebounded to defeat East Hall later in the day. The Lady Lions also lost to Westminster 3-0 on Wednesday. The team travels out of town for the Valdosta Tournament this weekend.
