Luke Metz Announces His Top 6 Schools

Luke Metz announced his top six schools on Friday, which includes Tennessee, Missouri, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Duke.

LSU and Oklahoma were the latecomers for his recruiting but did enough to make it on his top list. Metz reported his Oklahoma offer a few hours before announcing his finalists. LSU offered in early February.

He gained traction on the recruiting trail in late winter after having only nine offers in November. Metz is approaching 30 offers. He remains unranked on all major recruiting platforms but is one of the better linebackers in the state.

Metz won a state championship with Mill Creek in 2022 against Carrollton. He finished with 51 tackles, 14 quarterback hurries, and five sacks in 2023. His best game was in the second week of the season against the Norcross Blue Devils. In that game, he recorded ten tackles and a sack. In a pivotal win against Buford, he had three quarterback hurries and a sack.

He is 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds and is a very instinctual player in the middle linebacker position. Metz can come downhill and make a big hit on the running back. He is also great at block shedding and sifting through traffic to make a play. One of his best plays from this past season came in the playoffs against Peachtree Ridge. Metz played zone coverage on the play, and read the inward breaking route for the receiver returning it for an interception returned for a touchdown. This is one of several big plays he made on defense for the Mill Creek Hawks.

Metz is a big-time player and is heavily sought after. You can expect more offers to come his way despite him announcing his top six schools. Spring and summer prove to be pivotal months ahead to land his services .
