McEachern, Grayson’s boys teams in Massachusetts for the HoopHall East Classic

The top two boys teams in Class 7A will make appearances in the Spalding HoopHall East Classic at Blake Arena on the campus of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts over the weekend. McEachern (12-3, 2-0), ranked No. 2 behind Grayson, will take to national television on ESPNU when it competes against California’s Harvard-Westlake 11 a.m. Monday.

The Indians boys are ranked No. 2 in Class 7A and are 11-3 overall with a 2-0 record on Region 4 play and have won six-straight since losing to New Jersey’s Don Bosco Prep 76-50 on Dec. 19 in the City of Palms event.

Four-star shooting forward Ace Bailey has been key for the Indians and at 6-foot-9 and 195-pounds, he’s flat-out hard to guard. The Rutgers-commit is scoring 31.8 points per game with 14 rebounds per game and 3.4 assists.

Senior John McQueen, a 6-6 forward, adds 10 points with four rebounds, senior guard Jaye Nash adds 10 points with seven assists and three rebounds and 6-4 senior center Nnadozie Onyirimba is scoring 10 points with six rebounds per game.

Joining McEachern in the event is Class 7A No. 1 Grayson (15-1, 3-0), which beat the Indians 79-62 in its season-opener. The Rams are riding a three-game winning streak since losing to South Carolina’s Ridge View in the Chik-Fil-A Classic on Dec. 30. Grayson will face Arizona’s Perry High Saturday at 9 p.m. in a game which will be broadcast on the NBA YouTube app.
