No hold-out for Abraham; Falcons announce four new minority owners

Let’s go ahead and clear this up: John Abraham will report to training camp Aug. 1 and will not hold out despite reports on the NFL Network that the Falcons sack master was upset with his six-year, $45 million contract. In fact, Abraham is happy to be on the Falcons and ready to get this season started. The slow, lazy days of summer led to much speculation in the sporting world, but fear not Falcons fan, John Abraham will be scaring quarterbacks for years to come.

Also in Falconland, Arthur Blank has announced that he has reached an agreement to bring four new minority owners to the team, pending league approval. Ronald E. Canakaris, Douglas J. Hertz, Ed Mendel and Derek V. Smith will join John P. Imlay Jr. and John A. Williams as minority owners. The main reason majority owner Arthur Blank has brought on more investors is so he can direct more of his capitol to the Arthur Blank Family Foundation.

The Major League Baseball All-Star game is tonight in St. Louis and can be seen at 8pm on Fox. President Barack Obama will be throwing out the first pitch and St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols has been given the honor of catching it. Then, Obama will join announcers Joe Buck and Tim McCarver in the booth, reportedly in the bottom of the second inning. Let’s see what the southpaw Obama can do on the mound and see if it compares to the strike his predecessor George Bush threw at Yankee Stadium.
