PREPS: News and notes on Friday night hoops playoff games

From Savannah to the Tennessee line, we were all over the first round of the state basketball playoffs tonight. While there were some upsets – such as Redan and Savannah Christian going down – perennial powers like the Miller Grove boys and Wesleyan girls rolled past out-matched opponents.

In possibly the best matchup of the night, No. 9 Milton defeated No. 7 Parkview in the Class AAAAA girls bracket.

A strong fourth quarter helped Milton to a 46-36 Class AAAAA first round playoff victory over No. 7 Parkview.

The Lady Panthers trailed by just one at halftime, but in the second half, No. 9 Milton took control behind the scoring of Nicki Dixon and the post play of Tori Waldner. The Lady Eagles came out strong in the final stanza and increased their lead to 15.

Dixon finished with 18 points, while Waldner finished with 12 points, 10 boards, and six blocks.
