QUICK HITS: Stafford passes on Combine workout; Vick’s name brought up by 49ers’ Singletary

For the offseason, there sure is a lot of football news to go around. Wait a minute … oh, that’s right, there IS no offseason. And for football junkies needing a fix, the NFL Combine is just what the doctor ordered.

Matt Stafford will not work out at the NFL Combine, and some think that decision will hurt his chances to be the first quarterback taken in the Draft. Mark Sanchez, says the AJC’s D. Orlando Ledbetter, will work out in passing drills at the Combine and may move ahead of Stafford on the draft boards.

In Falcons news, the inevitable has started: Michael Vick’s name is being mentioned more and more as his release date nears, as the Falcons have decided to trade his rights. Mike Singletary, head coach of the 49ers, said Friday that the team is not interested in Vick until his status with the league is resolved, but wouldn’t rule out interest down the road.
