Softball action continued across the state Monday and in a meeting between Class 6A Houston County and Jones County, the defending 5A champions, Houston County beat the Greyhounds 7-5. Pitcher Jacy Harrelson pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts. Houston County moved to 2-2 on the season after victory while Jones County fell to 0-1.
Flowery Branch moved to 1-0 on the season after a 4-0 victory over Class 7A Mountain View Monday. First baseman Alyssa Wagner was 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run home run. Catcher Makaela Davis was 1-for-3 and pitcher Nikki Harris pitched six innings with eight strike outs.
Mountain View moved to 3-1 after the loss. Flowery Branch will travel to Cedar Shoals and Mountain View will host Grayson Thursday.
