The GHSA reclassification shuffled the power structure of multiple sports and created new region rivalries across the state. Perhaps no new rivalry has been more intense than North Hall and Buford. The two schools have traded blows and region titles on the football field, basketball court, baseball diamond and now the soccer pitch. Last week, North Hall’s Junior Avalos had a goal and two assists in a crucial region win over the Buford Wolves as the Class AAA No. 10 Trojans moved to 3-0 in Region 7-AAA play. Avalos added another goal and an assist in the subsequent game and in last night’s game, he scored another two goals as North Hall took out East Hall. Sonic was on hand at the Brickyard last night and honored Avalos as the Trojans’ Spring Sports Player of the Week.

North Hall boys soccer head coach Jonathan Lillie and Sonic’s Tammy Moore presented Avalos with the award as the entire North Hall team applauded the forward’s efforts. Lillie noted that Avalos and the team were incredibly excited to be honored by Sonic.

Congratulations to Junior. Sonic is a proud supporter of Georgia high school sports and will be on hand at events all next week, handing out awards for baseball, soccer and lacrosse.
