Southeastern Recap: Patriots down Carrollton, South Pointe stifles York

Sandy Creek (Ga.) 24, Carrollton (Ga.) 7: The Patriots’ defense gave up a touchdown on the first drive to the host Trojans and held them scoreless the rest of the way. Quarterback Cole Garvin threw for 184 yards and rushed for a score while guiding the offense to scores in each quarter. Eric Swinney rushed for two scores and 71 yards while Delvin Weems added 97 yards on the ground. The defense allowed only 48 more yards following the initial touchdown drive.

 

University (Fla.) 49, Island Coast (Fla.) 7: Jordan Scarlett propelled University with two first quarter scores including an 80-yard touchdown run. Sean White found Sam Bruce for a touchdown and Bruce returned an Island Coast punt 57 yards for a Suns touchdown. White added a rushing touchdown and University took a 35-7 lead into the half. White found Chris Taylor in the second half for his second touchdown pass of the game.

 

Clay-Chalkville (Ala.) 50, Oak Mountain (Ala.) 22: Christopher Marshall had two passing touchdowns for Clay-Chalkville in the first quarter. T.J. Simmons returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, and backup quarterback Moore hit Eric Blockum for a 19-yard touchdown in the third. Cougars running back Terrelle West scored three rushing touchdowns and broke the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

 

Fulton (Tenn.) 69, Carter (Tenn.) 0: Host Fulton finished its undefeated (10-0) regular season and took a comfortable 62-0 lead into halftime. Daryl Rollins-Davis ran in four touchdowns and four other Falcons ball carriers recorded rushing scores. Quarterback Penny Smith completed touchdown passes to K.J. Roper and Xavier Hawkins.

 

South Panola (Miss.) 22, Grenada (Miss.) 0: Host South Panola clinched the 6A-Region 1 District Championship with its shutout of Grenada. Defense won this game as both Anferenee Benson and Gabriel Lloyd came up with big interceptions. Roosevelt Jones found the endzone twice and ended the night with 43 rushing yards on five carries.

 

South Pointe (S.C.) 27, York (S.C.) 10: Visiting South Pointe held York to 49 yards rushing on 32 carries and recorded 14 tackles for losses. The Stallions’ defense also forced three York turnovers. On offense, South Pointe rushed for 301 yards. Sophomore Zaylin Burrs gained 141 rushing yards and tossed three touchdowns for South Pointe.
