Two No. 1 teams suffered their first losses of the season when facing top competition as Class AAAAA Tucker fell to new No. 2 Stephenson and Class A Aquinas fell to new No. 2 Lincoln County. Northside-Warner Robins assumed the top spot in Class AAAAA while ELCA moved up to No. 1 in Class A.
Class AAAAAA No. 1 Camden County had no trouble with Tift County and No. 3 Grayson, No. 6 Lovejoy and No. 8 North Gwinnett also cruised to easy wins. No. 4 Lowndes rallied to knock off Valdosta in the Winnersville Classic. McEachern moved into the poll after toppling South Cobb. The Indians have won five straight region games.
Tucker fell to No. 6 in Class AAAAA after No. 3 East Paulding, No. 4 ML King, No. 5 Gainesville and No. 6 Thomas County Central all rolled to big victories.
Class AAAA No. 4 Monroe Area may be for real after holding off formerly ranked Stephens County. The real shakeup in AAAA came when No. 5 Grady defeated No. 10 Washington on Saturday.
Class AAA remained unchanged by a small shakeup happened in Class AA when No. 2 Brooks County defeated No. 7 Fitzgerald. Lamar County and Cook moved up but the real mover was Jefferson, climbing to No. 6 after a huge road win against Lee Shaw’s Rabun County squad.
In Class A, Aquinas fell to No. 4 after falling to No. 2 Lincoln County. Athens Academy and Prince Avenue Christian moved up after wins while Calvary Day fell to No. 8 after a one-point loss on the road to Savannah Christian, who is just outside the rankings.
