Two complete games from Krysten Connelly lead Lions in region tournament

The football team defeated Duluth 37-0 on Sept. 26. Quarterback Nick Lombardo had 28 yards rushing, 114 yards passing and three touchdowns. The Lions were off last week, but get back to action this Friday against Mill Creek at home. … The softball team lost to Collins Hill on Sept. 25 by a score of 5-4. The girls beat Duluth 8-2 last Wednesday in the first round of the Region 7-AAAAA Tournament. Winning pitcher Krysten Connelly threw a complete game and struck out nine. Last Thursday, the girls defeated Norcross 5-0 behind another complete game by Connelly, who struck out eight. Sade Johnson was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. … The boys cross country team finished third in the Gwinnett County Championship meet last Saturday. Robert Fensterer led the team with a time of 16:32. The girls cross country team finished third in the same meet last Saturday. Sara Curry led the team with a time of 19:53. … The volleyball team lost to Wesleyan, Grayson and Collins Hill in the Gwinnett County Tournament.
