Upset Alert: Undefeated Eagles await season’s biggest test

6A No. 4 Peachtree Ridge at Collins Hill (underdog)

Collins Hill is riding high at 4-0, but hasn’t really played anyone yet.

This week, the Eagles draw the fourth-ranked Lions, their first big test of the year. This week, Ridge stars Dru Moody and Nick Glass left the team for unspecified reasons according to this story by Todd Holcomb.

Last season Collins Hill won this matchup 41-10, so the Eagles will not be intimidated. While Peachtree Ridge features Tennessee-commitment Orlando Brown at OT, Virginia-commitment Jordan Ellis at RB and QB Chance Thrasher, who has thrown for almost 1,000 yards. But Collins Hill has talent on offense as well, as THIS STORY mentions.

Pick: Peachtree Ridge 24, Collins Hill 17

5A No. 7 Warner Robins at Jones County (underdog)

Warner Robins is undefeated, but three of their wins have been competitive games. A Week 2 blowout win over Peach County looked great at the time, not so much anymore. Jones County, meanwhile, has shaken off an early loss to Mary Persons to run up a 3-1 record.

The Demons got the better of Jones County last year 35-7, but the Greyhounds will be at home and have impressive wins over Alcovy and shutouts over Putnam County and Greenbrier. This should be a win for Warner Robins but don’t be shocked if the Greyhounds pull off an upset.

Pick: Warner Robins 35, Jones County 31

Thomasville (underdog) at Class AA No. 7 Brooks County

The Trojans travel to Region 1-rival Thomasville feeling good about themselves and their chances of a run at the state title. But QB Malkom Parrish and Co. need to be hitting on all cylinders for this one. While Thomasville has a modest 2-2 record, the Bulldogs have wins over Cairo and Cook and the losses are to Thomas County Central and Westminster.

Brooks County has won two in a row in this series, but Thomasville will test them this year. While the Trojans can score, they also allowed 50 points in their lone loss to Valdosta.

Pick: Brooks County 21, Thomasville 17
