In Class 7A, the top 5 did not shift and Carrollton did not slide following its narrow loss to Class 6A No. 1 Hughes. Westlake moved up from No. 8 to No. 6 after its 52-28 win over North Cobb. Norcross and Collins Hill debuted at No. 9 and No. 10 and the teams that exited the poll were Grayson and North Cobb. Collins Hill is the only team that lost and entered the poll after a Week 1 loss.
The Eagles fell 27-13 to No. 3 Milton but showcased a lot of talent on the defensive front and were plagued by six turnovers. Marist dropped from No. 9 to No. 10 in Class 6A after a competitive loss to No. 2 Gainesville and Class 5A saw Cass fall to No. 10 after its loss to Class 6A No. 6 Rome and Kell fall to No. 9 after its loss to Class 7A No. 8 Parkview
In Class 4A, Holy Innocents’ jumped No. 10 Stockbridge for No. 9 after its season-opening win over Pace Academy and Burke County moved up to No. 6 after a 14-13 victory over Thomson.
In Class 3A, Cedar Grove defeated Class 5A Dutchtown 34-33 and moved to No. 1 following Peach County’s fall from No. 1 to No. 7. The Trojans lost to Class 4A Baldwin 34-13 in coach Marquis Westbrook’s debut at Peach. Carver-Atlanta moved up to No. 2 with Calvary Day at No. 3, Sandy Creek at No. 4 and Thomasville rounding out the top 5.
Fitzgerald tops Class 2A with Thomson, Callaway, Appling County and Pierce County filling the top 5. In Class A Division I, Prince Avenue Christian leads Swainsboro, Elbert County, Rabun County and Irwin County in the top 5.
Schley County moved to the top of Class A Division I with former No. 1 Bowdon dropping to No. 4 after a loss to now-No. 3 Manchester. Clinch County is at No. 2 with Johnson County rounding out the top 5 at No. 5.
