Week 3 boys soccer rankings

In the state’s highest classification, Peachtree Ridge is the team to beat. They started slow, with a loss to Johns Creek in an exhibition game, but then went on a seven game win-streak, including wins over No. 5 Parkview and No. 10 Brookwood. Etowah is in the No. 2 spot with wins over Class AAAAAA No. 4 Centennial and a 10-0 win over Dublin.

In Class AAAAAA, Dalton reigns supreme. The top-ranked program has wins over Class AAAAA No. 1 McIntosh (3-2) and a 7-1 win over Harrison. Second-ranked Chattahoochee’s season is highlighted by wins over Wheeler (9-0) and Class AAAAAAA No. 10 Brookwood (5-0).

In Class AAAAA, McIntosh is in the driver’s seat with wins over Fayette County (5-0) and Class AAAA No. 5 St. Pius X (2-0). Riverwood is No. 2 with a 5-1 win over North Springs on Mar. 3 and a 3-2 win over Class AAAA No. 3 Woodward Academy.

Class AAAA is led by Druid Hills. The top-ranked program has lost an exhibition game to South Gwinnett on Feb 3, 2-4 but then won four in a row, including wins over Chamblee (3-1) and Class A No. 1 Paideia (2-0). Marist is in the No. 2 spot with wins over Class AAA No. 2 Greater Atlanta Christian (1-0) and Class AAAAA No. 8 Whitewater (2-0).

Westminster holds the top spot in Class AAA. The Wildcats have only allowed four goals through eight games (including the exhibition tie against Marist on Feb. 4). Greater Atlanta Christian in the the No. 2 spot including wins over No. 9 Lovett and Class A No. 2 Wesleyan.

Class AA is led by Fitzgerald who has three shutouts on the season, Crisp (2-0), Atkinson County (2-0) and Thomasville (3-0). Benedictine Military is in the No. 2 spot and has not allowed a goal since the Feb. 24 loss to Glynn Academy, 4-0. Since then Fitzgerald has won three games and outscored its opponents 18-0.

Paideia leads Class A with wins over Whitefield Academy, 2-1, on Feb. 16, Chamblee, 3-2 on Feb. 21, and Hebron Christian, 6-0, on Feb. 23.  The Wesleyan School holds the No. 2 spot.
