Week 3 softball rankings, East Coweta still on top

East Coweta still holds the top spot in the state’s highest classification after a week that saw the Top 10 bounce around a bit. Parkview jumped up from No. 4 to No. 2 with Lassiter falling to fifth. Newnan, previously No. 5, moved up to No. 3. Lowndes enters the Top 5 at No. 4 after being No. 6 last week. Forsyth Central jumped from No. 9 to No. 7. With Lowndes moving up, Grayson took advantage, moving from No. 7 to No. 6 this week. Etowah, previously No. 8, falls to 10th.

Creekview is again at the top of Class AAAAAA with a new No. 2 in town. River Ridge, previously third, moves up to No. 2 as Alexander falls to fifth. Effingham County moved up the polls from No. 7 to No. 3 as previous No. 4 Dunwoody falls to No. 9. Pope, previously sixth, moved into the Top 5 at the No. 4 spot. Evans, previously 10th, made a move to the No. 6 spot. Previously unranked Mundy’s Mill moved into the rankings at the No. 7 spot with Harrison staying at No. 8. Houston County debuts in the Top 10 at No. 10.

Chamblee overtakes Buford in the Class AAAAA rankings as the Wolves fall to second. Carrollton, previously sixth, moves up to third with Loganville, previously No. 7, in the No. 4 spot. Locust Grove settles at the No. 5 spot. Previously unranked Arabia Mountain is sixth with Whitewater, previously fifth, at No. 7. Starr’s Mill slid from No. 4 to No. 7 as Walnut Grove, Villa Rica and Thomas County Central fall to unranked. Kell debuts in the Top 10 at No. 10.

In Class AAAA, Northside-Columbus is on top with previous No. 5 Stephens County at No. 2. The biggest climb was made by LaFayette, which moved from No. 8 to No. 3. Previously ranked third, Ridgeland fell to No. 4. Oconee County fell from No. 4 to unranked as Northwest Whitfield entered the rankings at No. 7. Central-Carroll fell from No. 2 to No. 5, and Madison County moved from No. 9 to No. 6.

Calhoun still holds down Class AAA with East Jackson in second. Liberty County, previously third, falls to fourth as Worth County moved up from No. 5. Long County moved from No. 6 to No. 5 as Peach County fell from No. 4 to No. 6.

Class AA is again led by Rockmart with Harlem a close second and Dodge County third. Monticello debuts in the Top 10 at No. 4, and Screven County, previously sixth, rounds out the Top 5. Berrien, previously No. 9, climbs to No. 6 with Bacon County settling at No. 7.

Glascock County overtook Gordon Lee as the top team in Class A-Public. Wilcox County moved up to No. 2 with Gordon Lee settling at third. Lanier County, previously unranked, enters at No. 4 with previous No. 7 Seminole County at fifth.

Previous No. 2 Tattnall Square overtook Wesleyan for the No. 1 spot in Class A-Private. Wesleyan settled at No. 2. Eagle’s Landing Christian, previously No. 5, climbed to the No. 3 spot with Calvary Day moving from sixth to No. 4. Mount de Sales made a jump from No. 9 to round out the Top 5 at No. 5.
