Walton overtakes Norcross as the team to beat in the state’s highest classification. The Raiders moved past Milton and Lassiter last week, both 4-1 victories, to stake their claim to the top spot. Norcross suffered a 2-1 loss to Lakeside on March 27 before reeling off victories over Parkview and Etowah on March 29 and April 13, respectively. Grayson, previously fourth, made the move up to third and Lakeside-DeKalb climbed from seventh to fourth. South Forsyth, previously No. 8, moved into the fray at fifth.

Dalton still reigns supreme in Class AAAAAA with a new No. 2, Cambridge, looking to overtake. Previously No. 3, Cambridge overtook previous No. 2 Chattahoochee as it slid to No. 3. Gainesville is fourth again this week with Alpharetta again showing at fifth.

Decatur is still the team to beat in Class AAAAA with a new No. 2, Cross Keys, in the mix. Previously No. 4, Cross Keys replaced McIntosh at No. 2 as the Chiefs tumbled to sixth following a loss to No. 9 Starr’s Mill on April 13. Carrollton holds true at No. 3 as Johnson-Gainesville moved from fifth to fourth. Last year’s state runner-up, Clarkston, made a move from fifth to sixth this week.

Marist overtook Woodward Academy to reclaim the top spot in Class AAAA this week. Woodward fell to second ahead of No. 3 Chestatee. Druid Hills, previously ninth, made a jump to fourth following a victory over No. 2 Woodward Academy on April 13. Southeast Whitfield improved its ranking by three spots, moving from No. 8 to No. 5 this week.

Westminster’s Wildcats hold the top spot in Class AAA again this week ahead of North Murray, Windsor Forest and East Hall. Greater Atlanta Christian, previously fifth, slid to sixth, allowing Savannah Arts to move from sixth to fifth this week.

There was not a shift in the top of the rankings in Class AA as Putnam County, Benedictine, Jefferson County, Harlem and Thomasville make up the top five teams. Westside-Augusta jumped from No. 7 to No. 6 this week following Model’s drop from sixth to seventh.

Atlanta International is still No. 1 in Class A with Paideia, Whitefield Academy, Pinecrest Academy and Athens Academy filling out the top five.
