Wolverines dominate Adairsville in first-ever home game

The football team followed up its victory over rival North Forsyth in week 1 with an emphatic Friday night win over visiting Adairsville 77-30 in the program’s first-ever varsity home game. The Wolverines’ offense was extremely efficient piloted by quarterback Lance Baker, who had four touchdown passes in the win. West put up 55 points prior to the halftime whistle and the game was never in doubt. Head coach Frank Hepler’s young team has responded well for a brand-new program and will try to continue its winning ways against the Pickens Dragons on Friday at 7:30 p.m. … The volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Aug. 28 against Fellowship Christian and Atlanta International. The team opens region play with games against Gainesville and Johnson-Gainesville before playing in the Collins Hill Classic on Thursday. … The softball team lost its game in the Buford Invitational Tournament 8-6 to Forsyth Central last Saturday. The Lady Wolverines (3-7 at press time) will play Gilmer, West Hall and Chestatee in region play this week.
