Defending Class AAAAAA champion No. 3 Lambert fell for the second time in three games matching its loss total from a year ago and now drop to 4-2 on the season. Last Wednesday North Forsyth ace Dakota Chalmers powered the Raiders (5-3-1) to a signature win, 2-1. Chalmers threw a complete game while striking out seven and allowing just one run to the powerful Lambert offense. He also hit the game deciding 2-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth to give himself a lead he would not relinquish. In the Perfect Game Showdown championship, newly minted No. 1 Parkview (8-1) bested No. 2 Kennesaw Mountain (7-2) after the Panthers scored eight runs in the first three frames and ran away with a 10-0 victory. David Draper went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Andy Albright got the win for the Parkview after throwing five shutout innings.

After finishing 17-13 a season ago, No. 8 Creekview has gotten off to a hot start in AAAAA winning their first eight games. Jordan Pickerill struck out a program-record 16 batters during his complete game, two-hit shutout of Cass on March 4. Last Thursday Michael Chiavell dazzled during a 9-0 shutout win over Dalton. No. 1 Whitewater hit the national scene in the 2015 National High School Invitational and came away with a 2-1 win over the previously undefeated Farragut Admirals (TN). Ethan Gillis struck out 11 batters on his way to a one-hit victory.

No. 7 Troup County (8-1) defeated Class AAA’s No. 9 Callaway (5-3-1) 5-3 behind a strong Winston Turner outing. Turner allowed just three hits, one earned run and struck out eight in seven innings. Callaway received two hits and an RBI from Terry Godwin in the loss. Griffin Jolliff powered No. 1 ranked Buford (7-1) to a 10-0 win over North Oconee in its first Region 8-AAAA game of the season. Jolliff was perfect from the plate going 3-3 while collecting four RBIs.

Class AAA’s No. 1 Blessed Trinity advanced to 5-2 overall after dropping Decatur 10-2. The Bulldogs drop to 7-3. Garrett Dupuis, Will Galloway, and Cody Roberts all collected two RBIs apiece. The Titans are set for a visit from rival Westminster this week. No. 3 Washington County (7-0) enters the week fresh off of massive victories over Josey and Hephzibah by a combined 35-0.

In AA, No. 1 Wesleyan (10-2) used five stolen bases and a two RBI game from Christian Stark to edge Hebron Christian 3-1. No. 2 Lovett (7-2) traveled to Tampa, FL and split with Tampa Catholic and Tampa Prep. Alex Sayles drove in both Lion runs in their 2-1 win over Tampa Catholic before Lovett fell to Tampa Prep 5-4 in 12 innings.

Class A’s No. 1 ranked King’s Ridge Christian (6-0) meets No. 2 Mount Paran (4-0) for the first time since last season’s state championship when King’s Ridge swept the Eagles for the title. The Tigers have allowed just nine runs on the season.
