Blue Devils falter against winless Woodstock

The football team suffered its first loss of the season, falling to region opponent Woodstock 32-21 last Friday. Ironically, this was the Wolverines’ first win of the season. After giving up only seven and nine points in their first two games, respectively, the Devils’ defense hit a speed bump, allowing 32 points and a ton of offense to a now 1-2 Woodstock team. This week, the team will host the undefeated Raiders of East Paulding for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.  The Blue Devils will have to deal with a defense that has been consistently stingy, as East Paulding has only given up 31 points all season. … The softball team managed to edge out a 10-9 win against Wheeler last Wednesday. On Thursday, however, the Lady Wolverines lost a close one, falling 8-6 to South Cobb. With only three wins this season, things may not get much easier for Marietta, as four of its remaining five games will be played on the road.  … The volleyball team spiked Class 4A Hillgrove this past Thursday. The team now prepares to face Allatoona in the Cobb County Tournament, which begins Thursday and lasts through Saturday.
