Buford blanks last two opponents, readies for visiting Blessed Trinity

It was business as usual for the defending state football champs in their travels to face Cross Keys on Oct. 11, as the team earned a resounding 63-0 victory at Adams Stadium. The long list of players that scored for Buford include Cody Getz, Storm Johnson and Sterling Bell. On the road against Thomson last Friday, defense was the theme, as the Wolves kept the Bulldogs quiet and ineffective all night long in a gritty 29-0 win. This Friday the team hosts Blessed Trinity. … The softball team claimed its second regional softball championship in school history, going 3-0 in the Region 6-AA tournament. Buford defeated Blessed Trinity 11-0 in five innings to advance to the title game behind Karli Fullem’s two-hit, 10-strikeout performance. In the 9-1 title game victory over Greater Atlanta Christian, Fullem added a homer while Lexi Overstreet went 3-3 with three RBIs.  Melissa Dickey shut the door on the Spartans, allowing one hit and one unearned run while racking up seven stikeouts. The team won its first two games of the sectionals against Crawford County (8-0) and Jefferson (4-0).
