Bulldogs offense shows improvement, but special teams falter in 14-13 loss

In what promised to be an exciting matchup, the football team took on Marist last Friday. The Bulldogs got off to a quick start when senior Dakarai Penn returned a fumble by Marist running back Matt Connors 63 yards for a touchdown. Chamblee maintained a 7-0 lead until the third quarter when Marist built momentum and a 14-7 lead. Thanks to running back Warren Norman, the Bulldogs mounted a comeback, as the senior broke free for an 80-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The extra point was missed, however, giving Chamblee a tough 14-13 loss. “We’re going to get better and better on offense. We have to have a better plan to move the ball,” commented head coach Michael Collins. The Bulldogs will take on 1-2 Lithonia this Saturday. … The softball team earned a positive outcome last Tuesday, defeating Miller Grove 11-0. The Lady Bulldogs hit the road to take on Marist this Thursday. … The volleyball team was busy last week and notched four wins on Saturday alone, defeating Providence Christian 2-0 (25-13, 25-8), Hebron Christian Academy 2-0 (25-17, 25-20), Collins Hill 2-0 (25-18, 25-10), and North Forsyth 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 28-26).
