Brookwood 40, Walton 13

How the game was won: Brookwood outscored Walton 20-0 in the third quarter before a scoreless fourth quarter sealed the victory. Dante Black scored a 24-yard touchdown at the end of a high-scoring opening quarter to give host Brookwood a 20-10 lead. In the third quarter, Walton quarterback Addison Shoup completed a pass to Dominick Blaylock, but Brookwood’s Matt Hill stole the ball and returned it for a Broncos touchdown to push the lead to 26-13.

Top performers: Brookwood quarterback Angelo DiSpigna threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Nick Prince in the first quarter before the duo connected again on a 29-yard touchdown in the third quarter that grew the lead to 33-13.

Fellowship Christian 14, Mt. Paran Christian 7

How the game was won: Fellowship Christian picked up a huge first win of the season on the road as they defeated Mt. Paran for the first time in school history. Fellowship took a 14-0 lead late into the game and would hold on by a final score of 14-7.

Top Performers: Jack Hardin had a great night in the passing game. Andrew Johnson scored on a 10-yard touchdown run following a Hardin 33-yard pass to Ryan Reed to set up the Paladins in scoring position. Reed also found the end zone on a Hardin 59-yard touchdown pass.

Harrison 22, Rome 20

How the game was won: In a back and forth battle the Harrison Hoyas took a 22-20 lead after a 65-yard touchdown run with just over five minutes remaining. With 51 seconds on the clock, the weather forced the two teams off the field and allowed Harrison to gain the win.

Top Performers: Justin Fields was the difference maker in for Harrison. Fields would connect for two touchdown passes, one going for 65 yards. Fields also showed his speed with his third touchdown on the night, a 65-yard run.

Lassiter 42, Pope 21

How the game was won: After one quarter of the play, the game was knotted up at 7-7. Pope took over in the second half, finding the end zone twice and taking a 21-7 lead into halftime. Lassiter answered in the third with two touchdowns of their own before a 45-minute weather delay.  After the delay, the Trojans went on to score three fourth quarter touchdowns. 

Top Performers: Mason Waters controlled the night on the ground. Waters found the end zone twice with over 100 yards rushing. Waters on the other side of the ball had one interception for a touchdown to pace the Trojans.

Alexander 21, Allatoona 13

How the game was won: Alexander would fall behind early but only trailed by three at the half. With two minutes left in the third quarter, the Cougars took their first lead of the game 14-13 and didn’t look back.

Top Performers: Alexander quarterback Mason Wood finished 16-for-25 for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Hall accounted for 126 of those passing yards as he had 10 catches for two touchdowns.  On the ground Daetrich Harrington chewed up 78 yards on 21 carries.

Strong Rock Christian 31, North Cobb Christian 21

How the game was won: Strong Rock had 24-6 advantage over North Cobb Christian at the half. The Eagles rallied, using two touchdown passes from James Bitner to Stephen Smith and Tim Walker, but North Cobb Christian ultimately ran out of time.

Top Performers: Strong Rock’s Luke Welborn threw a 23-yard touchdown to Christian Da Silva. Welborn later added a 4-yard touchdown run and Demetrius Knight tacked on a 1-yard score. North Cobb Christian’s James Bitner finished 11-of-18 for 155 yards. K.P. Pierre rushed for a game-high 126 yards.

South Cobb 28, Campbell 21
