Daily Dive: Rome quarterback Reece Fountain Commits To East Tennessee State

Senior quarterback Reece Fountain announced his commitment to East Tennessee State University. Fountain had offers from Wofford, Georgia Southern, and Jacksonville State. Fountain’s recruiting moved quickly after landing the East Tennessee State offer 24 hours ago. The Buccaneers are getting a quarterback who has played on the big stage and has proven he can win the big games. Fountain is a very accurate quarterback who takes care of the football and has shown the ability to put points on the board in bunches.

Led by Fountain, the Rome offense averaged 47.5 points per game and scored their 4th highest points in a season in school history. Fountain threw for 44 touchdowns on a 74% completion percentage and led the Wolves to the quarterfinals. In the playoff run, Rome defeated Sprayberry and Hughes in the first two rounds, eclipsing 40 points in each game. In the victory over Langston Hughes televised on Peachtree Sports Network, Fountain took home the Robbie Hunter MVP Trophy for his performance. He’s also played in the Georgia Elite Classic three times, a prominent showcase held in Rome where some of the best players in Georgia showcase their talent.

In his career, Fountain has thrown for 11,000 yards and 99 touchdowns. He is 41-7 as a starter, and led Rome to consecutive 11-win seasons in his junior and senior seasons. Fountain will now suit up on the next level for the Buccaneers.
