ELITE JUNIOR: Max Kemper

Pope High School

Max Kemper is a star offensive lineman for Pope High School. Max also has a need for competition and is constantly pushing himself to his athletic peak. When not playing football, Max also wrestles for Pope and participates in the shot put for their track team.

He lets his father and coaches focus on his recruiting, so that Max can focus on getting better on and off the field.

“I’ve gotten a few letters,” Max says in regards to recruitment, “UNC, Wake Forest, and Vanderbilt off the top of my head.”

In addition to schools recruiting him, Max has been going to college camps in order to get his name out there and figure out what school he would fit best at

This past summer he went to Furman, North Carolina, Wofford, and Wake Forest. All of these schools have two things in common. They are interested in Max playing for them, and they are also some of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the country. Max fits in well academically, as he has been able to maintain a 3.7 GPA thus far through high school.

Max has a good idea of what he wants to do in the future, and is setting himself up nicely by working hard on and off the field.

“Well I want to go to college and play some football for a big school if I can,” Max said in a recent interview. “I also kind of want to be a trainer.”

The Kemper family is all about giving back. Max and his brother both did some work in their community when they were confirmed with their church. They helped run a camp for kids and enjoyed working with them.

The Pope High School football team also has a program called the “Blitz Squad”. This program was put in place so that high school football players can mentor middle school students and help them develop into hard working people.

“At the beginning of the year there’s just a list where you sign-up for a kid who plays your same position,” Max explained. “Then we just show them drills and technique and stuff to help them.”

Max has excelled in the classroom, in the community and on the field. His future is bright, and he brings a work ethic and drive that improves all of those around him. It will be exciting to see what school is lucky enough to land him, and how he performs at the next level.
