Elite Juniors get together for Taco Mac dinner

The three-day marathon of the Elite Junior Classic started on Friday when the players and coaches reported to the hotel in the morning and then followed it up with an afternoon practice.

But the best part of Day 1 had to be what happened at night when both the North and South teams got together at the Taco Mac in Sandy Springs and ate a meal for the ages.

The players, coaches and families arrived at Taco Mac at 7 p.m. and everyone sat at the heated outdoor patio. The tables were set up with complimentary Atlanta Falcons cups and the buffet was ready to go with more food than anyone could imagine.

Former Brookwood head coach and Elite Junior Staff member Dave Hunter kicked of the dinner with the blessing of the food and the coaches ate first followed by the families and the players. With over 1,200 wings consumed it’s safe to say that it was a successful night.

But wings were not the only thing on the menu. Egg rolls, salad, celery, chicken tenders, quesadillas, and tortilla chips were all available and all were gone before 8:30 p.m.

Taco Mac is one of the main sponsors of the Elite Junior Classic. In fact, they were nice enough to provide all the players $10 gift cards and they will also be serving food to them when they go to SkyZone for a team bonding event.

But before the players have another huge meal, they will be back at work tomorrow to prepare for the game on Saturday. The North team will practice at the Track Sports Complex while the South team will practice at Cantrell Stadium starting at 9:45 a.m. After lunch at Stars and Strikes, the teams will be back at it starting at 3 p.m.

The Elite Junior Classic game is on Saturday at Cantrell Stadium. The 8th Grade game will kickoff at 10 a.m. and the juniors will kickoff at 1 p.m.
