Football pulls out two big wins heading into matchup with Pope

The football team (6-2) cashed in on two big wins in its attempt to climb to the top of Region 6-AAAAA. On Oct. 17, the Eagles righted their offense during halftime and scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to beat Lassiter 21-10.  Toney Williams scored two touchdowns in the game. On Friday night, the Eagles proved that their ability to come back in the second half was no fluke, as they beat the Roswell Hornets on a dramatic last-second, fourth-quarter drive. Milton took advantage of an array of offensive weapons to keep Roswell on its heels and come away with a 21-20 victory. Taj Harris had several outstanding runs and A.J. Canara provided the 10-yard game-winning touchdown catch. The team faces Pope this Friday. … The softball team finished the season as the region runner-up to Kell after a 1-0 win and a 2-0 loss to the Longhorns in the Region 6-AAAAA tournament. Milton ended its run in the state sectionals after a 7-1 loss to East Paulding. With several players returning next year, the Eagles look to improve on the strong play shown throughout the season.
