Grayson offers rolling in

The defending Class AAAAA football champion Grayson Rams have had five players commit to BCS programs since April and several more could pull the trigger by the time the Rams open up the 2012 season inside the Georgia Dome in the Corky Kell Classic. The most recognized name to commit has been Robert Nkemdiche, the nation’s No. 1 recruit, to Clemson. Nkemdiche will join cornerback David Kamara and running back Wayne Gallman with the Tigers. Two weeks ago DE/TE Jack Banda pledged to Arizona, and last week DE/LB Zach Barnes promised to sign with Tennessee.

Grayson athletic director Brent Tisdale has been busy recently as his baseball team advanced to the Class AAAAA semifinals and his football recently qualified for a national 7-on-7 event in Hoover, Ala.

“We are proud of these young men and their college commitments,” said Tisdale. “Our hope is to have even more kids commit to play at the next level as the season continues.”

Two other members of Mickey Conn’s stout defense could also be headed towards scholarships. Kasey Gaines and Ryan Carter both join Kamara in the defensive secondary and both have piqued the interest of college recruiters. Carter holds five offers including Ole Miss, Georgia State, ECU and Tulane, while Gaines has been extended offers by Harvard, VMI, Howard and Presbyterian. Richard Pryor on the offensive line has also received some interest.

Speaking of players that can be seen at this year’s Corky Kell Classic, it was announced earlier this week on Twitter by Jake Rowe of Rivals that Kell defensive back Brendan Langley will announce his college decision at the Corky Kell Classic on Aug. 25. Langley will first visit UCLA and then UGA according to Rivals. Langley holds more than 14 major offers and is listed as a four-star prospect.
