Greyhounds fall to 0-3 in loss to Roswell

The football team has struggled in the early stages of the 2008 season and was looking to get its first win of the season on Friday against the Roswell Hornets. Things did not start off well for the Greyhounds, as the Hornets got off to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. Down by 21 in the second quarter, Marcorus Garrett scored on a 13-yard touchdown run to put Pope on the board. The Greyhounds got off to a great start in the third quarter when Parker Frost threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Robby Walton to cut the deficit. It was not enough though, as the Hornets went on to win 37-21. The Greyhounds played a solid four quarters of football, but penalties and turnovers cost them a chance at getting their first win of the season. Pope will look to get that win on Friday against Centennial. … The softball team lost to Kell 2-0 last Thursday. Nicole Lampert was the leader for Pope, going 2-for-3 with a double.
