Greyhounds making late playoff push with wins over Campbell and Wheeler

On Oct. 10, the football team blew past Campbell 42-28 and on Friday the Greyhounds shut out the Wheeler Wildcats 31-0. The offense was led by Marcorus Garrett who tallied 152 rushing yards and one touchdown. Stevie Wilkerson went 5-for-6 though the air with one touchdown. Parker Frost and Travis Meek also added rushing touchdowns in the win. The Greyhounds totaled 303 yards against the Wildcats. Pope will host Alpharetta on Friday. … The volleyball team continues to roll as it defeated Lassiter twice in the Area 1-AAAAA tournament. The Lady Greyhounds won the first match 2-0 and the second 3-1. The team has not lost a match since Sept. 13 when it lost to St. Paul’s Episcopal of Alabama. … The softball team’s season ended with losses to Kell and Walton. The team finished with a record of 13-16. Former softball player Katie Lewis was inducted into the Pope Hall of Fame on Friday. … Zach Tubber won the Hound Harrier meet individual title on Oct. 15. The boys cross country team finished second overall at the meet. Alyska Kalmeijer won the girls individual title while the team finished third overall.
