Hazing allegations force Kell’s Craig Hines’ resignation

Kell girls basketball coach Craig Hines is no longer with the team amid hazing allegations, first reported by wsbtv. Alexia Clarke’s daughter is on the team and first filed a complaint after seeing and hearing things about Hines and the program. Clarke stated that bullying and intimidation was facilitated by the Cobb coach.

“It’s frustrating because we the kids have the right to know. We entrust the Cobb County school district to look after our kids when we send them there,” said Clarke.

The school district is classifying it as an internal disciplinary matter but Channel 2 Action News did obtain a letter saying the district is taking “appropriate disciplinary action” against Kell High Coach Craig Hines.

Kell finished 14-14 this past season but carried a 10-3 region record into the playoffs. Hines also coaches the boys golf team and his wife Lauren is heavily involved in Kell’s athletics.

Lauren is wrapping up her 25th year of teaching in the Cobb County School District and has spent the last nine years with the Longhorns. Her coaching positions include Boys & Girls Track (4 years); Girls Golf Coach (5 years); JV Volleyball (6 years). Lauren was head volleyball coach for two years before handing over the position to Jessica Kasprowicz this season.
