Lacrosse rankings: Westminster boys solidify No. 1 status

BOYS

Class A-AAAAA saw plenty of shuffling in this week’s poll, however, Westminster protected its No. 1 status by topping defending Class AAAAAA state champion Centennial 11-10 in the AJO4LX Festival on Saturday. Northview is the only undefeated team left in Class A-AAAAA and remains at No. 2 behind the defending Class A-AAAAA state champs.

The unbeaten Titans added their seventh win of the season on Saturday (18-8 over Decatur). No. 3 Lovett scored an impressive 10-9 win over Class AAAAAA Lambert on Saturday.

St. Pius dropped out of the top five to No. 8. The Golden Lions have won four straight, however, none of the teams had winning records Blessed Trinity fell to No. 7 after with its 7-4 loss to Pope in the AJO4LX Festival. The Greyhounds moved up to No. 5 with their win over Blessed Trinity. The Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans handed Blessed Trinity a loss last week (8-6) and jumped to No. 6 in this week’s poll. The Spartans added wins over Cambridge (10-4) and Buford (16-3) this past weekend to move to 7-3 on the season.

 

In Class AAAAAA, Etowah dropped two spots to No. 10 after a 16-9 loss to Milton on Friday. Roswell took over No. 8 after dominating Woodstock 17-5 in region action on Friday and Peachtree Ridge (5-2) moved up one place to No. 9.

GIRLS

In Class AAAAAA, West Forsyth (6-3) debuts at No. 8 after edging John’s Creek 11-10 on Thursday. Roswell dropped one spot to No. 10 with its 12-11 loss to Westminster and North Gwinnett improved to No. 7 with wins over Cambridge (12-7) and South Forsyth (10-9) this weekend.

 

In Class A-AAAAA, the 6-0 Kell Longhorns took over at No. 2 in the poll and Pope jumped to No. 3 with its seventh consecutive win this past Thursday (22-4 over River Ridge). McIntosh (6-0) moved up three spots to No. 4 and Northview rounds out the top five. Northview’s 11-7 loss to Centennial on Tuesday dropped the Titans from No. 2.
