Lambert edges Milton for 6A title; Houston County-Whitewater headed for Game 3

Lambert edged defending state champion Milton 2-1 in Game 3 of the Class AAAAAA state championship series today in Alpharetta. Sophomore catcher Kyle McCann singled in Jarrett Wright in the fifth inning for the game-winning run.

Milton led 1-0 until the fourth inning when junior Will Dunavant singled in McCann to tie the game. The Eagles scored first in the third inning on a wild pitch when Steven Curry scored on a wild pitch.

It is Lambert’s first state title in program history.

Houston County at Whitewater

In the Class AAAAA championship series, host Whitewater won Game 1 on a controversial three-run walk-off homer while Houston County came back in the second inning of Game 2 to force a deciding Game 3 at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
