Offense sputters in close loss to rival Brookwood

The football team lost a hard-fought game with Region 8-AAAAA rival Brookwood, 13-7, on Sept. 26. The offense had trouble moving against the Broncos, accumulating 119 yards of total offense and five first downs on the evening. Michael Rosser prevented the shutout with a fourth-quarter 20-yard touchdown run. Berkmar’s defense couldn’t contain Brice Smith, who went for 143 yards on 34 carries. The loss brought the Patriots’ record to 2-3 on the season. The team had a bye last Friday, and the next game for Berkmar will be against Meadowcreek on the road this Friday. The Patriots hold a 13-5 advantage in the all-time series against the Mustangs, with four consecutive wins. Berkmar took last year’s game by the score of 42-7. … The softball team’s record dropped to 2-12, as the squad lost two games last week. The 12-1 loss to Osborne and the 16-5 loss to Campbell ended a tough regular season for the Lady Patriots.
