Big win moves region win streak to 28

According to head coach Mark Crews, the football team "has got a chance to be in the hunt," for the playoffs. After opening up its region slate with wins over Shiloh and Berkmar, running their region win streak to 28 games, the team trounced Meadowcreek last Friday 48-7 behind Brice Smith’s four touchdowns. The team faces Grayson on Friday. … The softball team suffered a 2-1 nail-biting loss in its final game before the Region 8-AAAAA Tournament. In the first game of the tournament, however, the Broncos got a huge effort from Brandi Jones (10 strikeouts) and went on to win 1-0 over Central Gwinnett. … The volleyball team, after falling in the semifinals of the Gold Bracket at the Gwinnett County Championships, fell to Parkview 2-0 (25-13, 25-20). The team followed that up with a sweep of North Hall and Collins Hill. … The Dyestat.com Southeast No. 1 boys cross country team easily won the Volunteer Cross Country Invitational recently after placing four runners in the top five. Tyler Anyan led the team. The girls team also won the event, which was held in Knoxville, Tenn. Carly Egan had the Lady Broncos’ best finish, at third overall.
