PANTHER BEAT: Linebacker Muasau earns honorable mention status

Georgia State outside linebacker Jake Muasau earned honorable mention recognition for the National Linebacker of the Week award in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision by the College Football Performance Awards. Muasau, a junior from Sierra Vista, Ariz., and a transfer from Phoenix College, turned in an impressive performance against Lambuth with six tackles, four tackles for loss including three sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Each week, the CFPA selects national winners at each position and also recognizes the top offensive and defensive players of the week. Elias Navarro of Robert Morris was selected as CFPA’s Linebacker of the Week, and Muasau earned honorable mention recognition, along with Milton Patterson of Jackson State and Clay Bignell of Montana State. Muasau and the Panthers host fourth-ranked Jacksonville State Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.
