The football team evened its season record at 1-1 as the Raiders grinded out a 17-14 win at Johnson-Gainesville. The Raiders, led by Tyler Stanton’s 142 yards rushing, showed resilience in bouncing back from a tough opening-game loss. After a scoreless first quarter, Jory Walsh opened the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Eli Chester also scored in the second quarter leading the Raiders to a 14-7 halftime lead. A third-quarter field goal proved to be huge for North Forsyth as the Johnson Knights stormed back to within three with a fourth-quarter touchdown of their own. Johnson had a chance to tie the game at 17-17 with less than a minute left in the game, but missed a long field goal. The Raiders now turn their attention to this Friday’s home game against the Duluth Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. … The cross country team competed in the Berry High School Invitational at Berry College last Saturday. Aaron Ansell led the boys, finishing in 18:42 (159th overall) and Allison Mahaffey was the first girl across the line for the Raiders (22:35, 139th overall).
