Dawson County handed Class AAA No. 1 Buford its first loss of the season after a 3-2 10th-inning win Wednesday. Colton Chester drilled two solo homers for Dawson County which won in the 10th on a RBI single by Harley Pruitt. The Wolves dropped to 17-1 overall and Dawson County is now 11-8. … No. 3 Columbus shut out Region 5-AAAA rival LaGrange 2-0 Thursday behind pitcher Cason Greathouse’s complete game shutout. Greathouse (3-1) allowed just two hits. At the plate, the sophomore lefty doubled, scores and drove in a run. … Class AAAAA No. 6 Greenbrier edged South Aiken (S.C.) 5-4 as Nick Sandlin improved to 6-0 with the win in relief. The Wolfpack scored three sixth-inning runs. … No. 3 Houston County dominated Warner Robins 12-0 for its 14th straight win and fifth straight mercy-rule victory. Jordan McIlwain gave up one hit and struck out nine while Hunter Phillips hit a grand slam for the Bears. … Class AAAAAA No. 2 Parkview beat Region 8 foe Berkmar 11-1 Thursday as Daino Deas and David Draper each had three RBIs. The Panthers are now 15-3 overall and 9-0 in region play. … Walker beat Riverwood 11-9 Thursday as Jake DePiero, Cameron Bloebaum and Paul Graziani each had two RBIs. The Wolverines improved to 11-5 with the win. … West Hall gave White County its sixth straight defeat with a 5-4 win in eight innings Thursday. West Hall is now 14-6, 10-4 while White County is now 13-6, 8-6. … Class AAAAA No. 9 Sprayberry beat east Cobb-rival Pope 4-2 Thursday after Perez Scott connected on a two-run game-winning homer. The Yellow Jackets improved to 13-5 overall and 10-3 in region play. … Class A No. 2 Mount Paran beat No. 5 King’s Ridge 9-1 Thursday to improve to 16-3 overall and 13-0 in region play. Jake Landen had a three-run double and Jake Palomaki was 3-for-3 at the plate.
