Mill Creek’s Shane Seckinger pitched five scoreless innings against Roswell in an 8-0 win to help the Hawks force a Game 3 today after Roswell edged past Mill Creek in Game 1. Seckinger struck out nine while surrendering just six hits and one walk to the Hornets. Logan Moseley had a home run for the Hawks in the Game 2 win. Roswell withstood a late charge by Mill Creek in Game 1 as a 7-3 advantage ended in a 7-6 decision. … Walton edged past Norcross 6-5 and 7-6 Thursday to advance in the GHSA Class AAAAAA playoffs. Norcross had leads in both games, only to see the Raiders rally back each time. Walton was down 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh in Game 1 before forcing extra innings with a three-spot in the frame. Reid Hanner scored the game-winning run on an error in the eighth inning. Henry Rowling helped Walton shake off an early Norcross lead in Game 2 with a double and a home run. … Mt. Paran struck early for five runs and King’s Ridge was never able to recover as the Eagles won Game 3 to advance to the Class A-Private semifinals. … Mt. Paran will face George Walton Academy, which beat Providence Christian 5-1. Ben Parr pitched a complete game for George Walton in the victory. … Will Robertson pitched a complete-game shutout to push St. Pius X past North Oconee 4-0. Robertson allowed just five hits and benefitted from an early lead thanks to a Jack Spear sac fly. … Gainesville received standout pitching performances from Michael and Jonathan Gettys as the Red Elephants charged past Creekview. Michael pitched the full five innings of Gainesville’s 10-0 win in Game 1 while Jonathan went the distance in Game 2, striking out 10 in the 3-0 victory. Luke Moore and Hunter Anglin each had four hits in the series. … East Coweta scored three runs in the first inning and that would enough as Marietta could scratch across just two runs in a 3-2 victory to push East Coweta into the next round. … Travis Demeritte torched Pope in Game 2 of Winder-Barrow’s series with the Greyhounds for five RBIs to help the Bulldoggs force a split. The two teams will meet today for the right to advance in the AAAAA playoffs. … East Pauling ended Kell’s season with a 10-0 victory in Game 3 of the Raiders and Longhorns’ Class AAAAA second-round series.
