Week 1 Boys Soccer Rankings

Hillgrove debuts at the top of the Class AAAAAAA polls with a flawless 7-0, 3-0 record. The Hawks are coming off a 5-2 victory over North Paulding on the road and a 4-3 victory over McEachern at home. Lambert is second with a 7-0-1, 4-0 record. Mill Creek is third with Collins Hill and North Gwinnett making up the top-5.

Dalton leads Class AAAAAA and has yet to be beaten this year. The Catamounts beat Northwest Whitfield 4-1 on Wednesday and South Cobb 6-2 on Tuesday. Sprayberry is second and also sports a flawless record. Third-ranked Chattahoochee has only one blemish – a 2-0 loss to Roswell – on its record but since its won two games going into its Friday match against Dunwoody. Gainesville and Pope are third and fourth, respectively.

In Class AAAAA, Decatur leads the pack and, since a 0-0 tie with Parkview on March 1, the Bulldogs have won three matches over Jackson 8-1, Lithia Springs 2-0 and Banneker 10-0.

Upson-Lee holds the top-spot in Class AAAA and have won four matches over Mary Persons 3-0, Spalding 2-0, Howard 6-0 and Mary Persons 10-0 since its 2-2 tie with Fayette County on Feb. 22. St. Pius X, Chestatee, Northwest Whitfield and Eastside round out the top-5.

In Class AAA, Westminster is in a familiar spot at the top of the polls as Scott Snyder’s squad is 9-0, 4-0. Greater Atlanta Christian is second and coming off a 1-0 victory over Class AAAA’s No. 2 St. Pius X on Tuesday. East Hall, Benedictine and Lovett make up the top-5.

Coosa rules Class AA and has yet to allow a goal this year. It moved past Dade County on the road 8-0 on Tuesday and Pepperell at home on March 7. Harlem holds the No. 2 spot and, since its 3-2 loss to North Augusta, S.C., the Bulldogs have won two matches, both 10-0, over Richmond County Tech and Butler. Putnam County, Woodville-Tompkins and Bremen make up the top-5.

St. Anne Pacelli leads Class A with a 5-1-1 record. Wesleyan is second ahead of Atlanta International, Whitefield Academy and Paideia. Pacelli fell to Marist 3-0 on Feb. 25 but rebounded with a 2-1 victory over Stratford on March 8.
