Week 5 boys soccer rankings

For three weeks now, Peachtree Ridge remains the team to beat in the 7A classification. Berkmar took over the No. 2 spot as Etowah fell to third. Parkview made a jump into the fourth spot after being ranked fifth last week. Norcross fell one spot from No. 4 to remain in the top 5. Marietta took a tumble from No. 7 to No. 10 and Brookwood moved from No. 9 to take the No .7 spot. South Forsyth fell to unranked as Walton moved into the No. 9 spot. Kennesaw Mountain moved into the top 10 (No. 8) as Meadowcreek fell by the wayside.

Not much changed in the 6A classification as the top 5, Dalton, Chattahoochee, Allatoona, Gainesville and Johns Creek, all stay the same. Centennial (new No. 6) and Greenbrier (new No. 7) traded spots. Richmond Hill and Winder-Barrow fell from the rankings as Cambridge (No. 9) and Glynn Academy (No. 10) moved into the fray.

McIntosh stays in the driver’s seat of the 5A classification with an 8-1-0 record. The Chiefs are closely followed by Riverwood, who stays in the No. 2 spot from last week. Clarkston made a jump from No. 5 to No. 5 after three wins last week. Starr’s Mill made a move from No. 6 to No. 4 with two wins last week. Clarkston is ranked third after being No. 5 last week. Cross Keys (No. 9) and Veterans (No. 10) enter the rankings this week as Kell and Buford fell out.

In the 4A class, Northwest Whitfield made an impressive jump from fifth to second with two wins this week. The move forced previous No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4, Marist, Woodward and St. Pius all to fall one spot. North Oconee jumped from No. 7 to No. 6 as Columbus fell to the No .7 spot. Chestatee fell out of the rankings and was replaced at the No. 9 spot by LaGrange.

Westminster has a hold on the 3A classification on both the boys and girls side. The Wildcats are 7-3-0 on the season and, despite one win and two losses since last week, are at the top-spot. Pace Academy jumped from fourth to third and East Hall fell to fourth. Newly-ranked Calhoun moved into the No. 8 spot as Savannah Arts entered the No. 9 spot. Lovett and Pike County both fell out of the rankings as Stone Mountain moved into the No. 10 spot this week.

In the 2A class, the top-5 is un-touched, and Fitzgerald is the team to beat. Coosa, previously un-ranked, entered the rankings in the No. 6 spot. Model fell from sixth to tenth behind new No. 9 Vidalia. Thomasville fell out of the top-10 and was replaced at the No. 8 spot by Jefferson County. Gordon-Central fell out of the No. 10 spot.

In the 1A class, the top-six teams are the same, with Walker in the top-spot. Riverside Military moved from No. 9 to No. 7. Fellowship Christian fell from No. 8 to No. 9. Mt. De Sales moved from No. 10 to No. 9 as Hebron Christian entered the rankings at the No. 10 spot.
