The season is turning toward the playoffs and regions around the state must report results to the GHSA Monday for the playoffs which begin Tuesday-Thursday for all classes. The playoff bracket will determine which eight teams from each region will travel to Columbus for the state tournament.
North Gwinnett leads the state’s highest class with East Coweta, Colquitt County, North Forsyth and Lambert filling the top 5. Parkview, Cherokee, Lowndes, Harrison and Mill Creek round out the top 10.
Lassiter leads Class 6A ahead of Pope, Buford, Dacula and River Ridge. South Effingham, Creekview, Lee County, Effingham County and Winder-Barrow fill the top 10. In Class 5A, Loganville is at the top and leading Walnut Grove, Eastside, Northside-Columbus and Jones County.
Central-Carroll tops Class 4A ahead of Heritage-Catoosa, Thomas County Central, Madison County and Marist. Appling County leads Class 3A this week ahead of Harlem, Sonoraville, Pike County and Franklin County.
Vidalia is the team to beat in Class 2A and leads Jeff Davis, Dade County, Heard County and Bremen in the top 5. Wesleyan tops Class A Private with George Walton, Tattnall Square, Mount Vernon and Mount Paran chasing.
ACE Charter still leads Class A Private ahead of Gordon Lee, Emanuel County Institute, Georgia Military and Commerce.
