Week 9 girls soccer rankings

Peachtree Ridge remains the team to beat in the state’s highest classification after wins over Mountain View and Dacula last week. Lassiter fell from second to fifth as Lambert moved from fourth to second. South Forsyth moved from fifth to third as Walton fell to fourth. Collins Hill remains sixth and Brookwood seventh. Parkview fell to tenth as East Coweta moved into the top-10 at ninth.

After wins over Sequoyah and Centennial last week, Harrison remains on top of the 6A classification. Northgate and Johns Creek are second and third respectively. Dacula stays in the No. 4 spot and Alexander debuts in the top-5 at fifth as Alpharetta fell to sixth. Pope fell from sixth to seventh and Creekview moved up to eighth. Chattahoochee fell from seventh to tenth as Lee County moved into the top-10 at ninth. Glynn Academy, formerly tenth, fell out of the rankings.

Riding a 12-game win-streak, Whitewater remains the team to beat in the 5A class. The top-ranked program got wins over Starr’s Mill and Douglas County last week. The rest of the top-5 also stays the same with Buford, Veterans, McIntosh and Warner Robins in the mix. Grady moved from tenth to sixth and Paulding County moved from eighth to seventh. Starr’s Mill fell from sixth to eighth and Decatur fell to tenth.

Marist has control of the 4A classification with a 11-2-1 record and win over White County last week. St. Pius remains second and Blessed Trinity is third. Oconee County moved from ninth to eighth as Chapel Hill moved to seventh. Woodward Academy fell from eighth to tenth and Northwest Whitfield enters the top-10 at ninth. Sandy Creek, previously tenth, falls out of the ranking.

Westminster has a hold on the 3A classification with a 13-1-1 record and an 8-1 win over Pope last week. The top-5 stays the same with Greater Atlanta Christian, Dawson, Lumpkin County and Pace rounding it out. Jackson County is still sixth and Pierce County moved from ninth to seventh. Lovett, previously seventh, fell to tenth following a 6-2 loss last week to Pace. Pike County enters the top-10 at ninth as Calhoun fell from tenth to unranked.

St. Vincent’s is still on top of the 2A classification with a 15-1-0 record and wins over Vidalia and Savanna Christian last week. East Laurens fell from second to fourth to make room for No. 2 Fitzgerald. Glenn Hills jumped from sixth to third. Model rounds out the top-5 at fifth. Lamar County fell from fourth to sixth and Toombs County moved up to eighth. Vidalia settles at tenth as Thomasville fell to unranked. Screven County moved into the top-10 at the ninth spot.

Wesleyan is the team to beat in the 1A class. First Presbyterian, Holy Innocents’ and Walker remain No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 respectively. Atlanta International rounds out the top-5 this week as Fellowship Christian fell to seventh. Mt. Pisgah jumped from tenth to sixth and Stratford moved down to eighth. Paideia, previously ninth, fell to unranked as Pinecrest Academy moved into the picture at tenth. Athens Academy fell from eighth to ninth.
