Baseball rankings: Defending champs fall out of poll

In the state’s largest classification, Walton beat Milton to knock the defending champions out of the top 10. The Eagles have gotten off to a rough 6-4 start to the season. Kennesaw Mountain debuted in the top 10 after winning seven of eight including victories over Lassiter and Etowah.

In Class AAAAA, Sprayberry beat Sequoyah to earn a spot in the top 10. The Chiefs, meanwhile, fell a couple spots while North Paulding dropped out after two recent defeats.

Class AAAA remained the same while, in Class AAA, Appling County dropped out of the top five after a shutout loss to Southeast Bulloch. Oconee County debuted in the rankings after a 7-4 start.

Cook dropped out of the top five in Class AA after two straight losses. Class A saw several changes including Mount Pisgah and Trion making appearances in the top 10 after recent quality wins.
