Last Thursday night’s 56-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was by far one of the best games the Falcons have played in the last few seasons. They completely dominated Tampa on offense, defense, and special teams.

Even though they dominated their opponent on the way to the team’s second win of 2014, the theme on Monday in Flowery Branch was seeking additional improvements based off that performance. You don’t have to go further to find out this is the case, than to talk with head coach Mike Smith.

“We turned the page as a coaching staff and as a team on Friday,” Smith said. “We’ve got to move on. We can’t help that it’s a Thursday night game and we’ve got nine days to get prepared. We’re not there yet obviously and we’ve got another game coming up this Sunday. We want to just improve upon what we put out last week.”

The defense isn’t the only group that wants to get better from week three to week four. The offensive line is also looking to build on their good performance against the Bucs. Center Joe Hawley liked some things and also would like some other parts of their performance to get better.

“As a group we played well,” Hawley said. “There’s still some stuff that we need to get fixed. We had an extra day today to work on that. We didn’t execute very well in the four-minute (drill) at the end and we can always protect the quarterback a little better.”

The Falcons get their chance to improve their record to 3-1 on the season and pick up their first road win this season. They’re also going to be taking on rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in his first career start for Minnesota. The Vikings are also dealing with other issues on their roster. I’m sure I don’t need to bring up recent news surrounding their
