Lions dispatch South Forsyth, score tremendous road win over Norcross

Despite four turnovers in the first quarter that put the Lions in a 16-point hole, the football team defeated South Forsyth 22-16 on Oct. 24. Ronnie Smith scored the Lions’ first touchdown with a 54-yard run. Brandon Stanley scored on a 58-yard run to cut the Lions’ deficit to 16-14 at halftime. Stanley scored again early in the third quarter, putting the Lions up for good. Stanley finished with 117 yards on 18 carries. The Lions defeated Norcross 20-7 last Friday. Quarterback Nick Lombardo threw for 133 yards. The Lions play North Gwinnett this Friday to decide the Region 7-AAAAA championship. … The softball team defeated Kennesaw Mountain and Greenbrier before losing to Cherokee 8-0 on Friday Oct. 24, just one win shy of advancing to the state championship game. Once again, the Lions were carried by strong pitching efforts from Krysten Connelly, who was named to the East Atlanta All-Star team along with Callie Fernandez. …The boys cross country team finished second in the Region 7-AAAAA Championships last Saturday. Nial Longobardi and Robert Fensterer finished first and second overall with times of 15:47 and 15:59. Sara Curry (18:28) helped the girls finish third
